About Jonathan Ostroff
Jonathan Ostroff is not your average academic. Ostroff has worked in industry as well as participated in tech conferences all over the world. he has published over 60 papers in a variety of professional journals, is an active member of the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and has dedicated himself to important research in Software Engineering. Jonathan Ostroff first demonstrated interest in applied science while achieving his B.Sc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand in 1976, and quickly moved on to the University of Toronto to obtain his M.A.Sc in Electrical Engineering in 1979. After graduating from the premier Canadian university, Ostroff was quickly picked up by Imperial Oil, the country’s largest petroleum company. However, Ostroff’s research interests seemed to fit better in the world of academia, and he eventually left the corporate landscape to become a lecturer at York University in 1986. Deciding to continue his initial studies and push his abilities father, Ostroff earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1987. Ostroff continues his work in the academic field as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Lassonde School of Engineering, York University at York University. Ostroff published a book "Temporal Logic for Real Time Systems was published" in 1989. Ostroff remains active with the IEEE, with which he has participated in numerous international conferences located in London, Beijing, and Germany. Jonathan Ostroff has contributed to a variety of other activities outside of the IEEE, including the Workshop on Quantitative Aspects of Programming Languages in Spain, as well as participation on the program committee at the Workshop on Real-Time and Probabilistic Systems in Bamberg, Germany. Ostroff also conducted strong research work in computer science, covering sequential and concurrent software verification and real-time safety critical software, among other topics. By staying active in the academic community, Ostroff helps his students in the department of Compurter Science & Enginering at York university.
